Following the retirement of the current post holder, the Council is looking to recruit a committed and experienced electoral services professional to lead our Electoral Services team.

We like to keep it simple here!  We have an electorate of c.77,000 and elect by thirds.  Our district boundaries are coterminous with our Parliamentary Constituency (so no ‘giving out’ or ‘taking in’ at election time!) and we are unaffected by the initial Parliamentary Boundary Review recommendations.  We also have 8 Parish Councils in our area.

Essential requirements for this role:

  • Detailed understanding of the electoral services timetable, i.e. ‘what needs doing when’ throughout the annual cycle.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience of working on an electoral management system (EMS), ideally Xpress.
  • Experience of annual canvass and rolling electoral registration.
  • Experience of delivering a range of elections.
  • A positive and enthusiastic team player and leader, able to exercise political impartiality, professionalism, and resilience in a fast-changing electoral landscape.
  • Must be prepared to work outside of normal hours during peak times, particularly around elections, as this is essential to the delivery of the service.
  • Hold the Certificate (or Diploma) of the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA).  [Consideration may be given to an exceptional candidate who is part-qualified and working towards completion of Year 2 of the Certificate or who has significant on the job experience of delivering the full range of electoral services.]

Telephone 01543 462621 or write to HR Services, Cannock Chase Council, Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 1BG or e-mail vacancies@cannockchasedc.gov.uk quoting EM016.
